With a background in real estate private equity prior to law school, Eric brings dual fluency in both the legal and business dimensions of real estate deals, allowing him to anticipate and balance financial and operational concerns alongside legal risk.
Eric's practice centers on purchase and sale transactions, real estate joint ventures, real estate finance, and leasing matters where he has represented borrowers, lenders, and investors in complex transactions. He regularly handles partnership closings for affordable housing deals including LIHTC transactions, real estate finance matters for retail properties and charter schools, and general transactional work involving affordable housing properties and partnership interests. He also advises multifamily owners and operators on acquisitions, dispositions, financings, property management compliance, and landlord-tenant matters, including navigating emerging challenges involving the regulation of ratio utility billing system practices. Eric has worked on large-scale master-planned communities involving multiple developers and overlapping project phases.
Prior to law school, Eric served as a fund asset manager and portfolio analyst for a real estate private equity firm, where he developed a thorough understanding of the LIHTC program, and subsequently worked on the acquisitions team for a publicly listed self-storage REIT. These roles ground his legal practice in the financial analysis and investment strategy that drive his clients' decisions.
